We have some exciting news!
The Black Archives Historic Lyric Theater turns 110 years old this year. The Historic Lyric Theater, considered the Crown of Overtown for over a century, is an impressive theater which was built in 1913. It has since served as a symbol of Black economic influence, as well as a social gathering place--free of discrimination--and a source of pride and culture within Overtown.
The 110-year anniversary will include a year-long celebration, kicking off in November. We hope that you and your colleagues will join us in this epic celebration by supporting our upcoming events and continued renovation efforts, as well as providing financial support.
The Historic Lyric Theater should be celebrated for being the Crown of Overtown for over a century and should be supported on a regular basis. With decades of discovery, the Lyric Theater’s story vividly shares our story – the past and the fascinating future. To keep the theater in the forefront, we need your help! We kindly ask that you make a donation to help sustain the Lyric Theater’s 110-year legacy of a lifetime. With your financial support, the Lyric Theater can continue giving visitors a look into the vast and diverse history and culture of people of the African Diaspora in the South Florida community and beyond.
